Ford to reintroduce F-150 nameplate in PH?

The Ford F-150 — in the range-topping Raptor trim — is set to make a comeback in the Philippine automotive scene.

According to a memorandum from the Land Transportation Office, the agency has ordered its New Registration Unit as well as its authorized District and Extension Offices to register the Ford F-150 Raptor as a utility vehicle and be assessed using the appropriate Motor Vehicle User’s Charge.

Per the said missive, the Ford F-150 Raptor will be classified as a pickup truck that can accommodate up to five occupants.

The submitted specifications state that the vehicle has an overall length of 5,892 millimeters (mm), an overall width of 2,430 mm, and an overall height of 1,958 mm. Its wheelbase measures 3,693 mm and clears the ground by 248 mm.

On that note, it is bigger than the Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle, which measures 5,049 mm long, 2,268 mm wide, and 1,783 mm tall.

The Ford F-150 Raptor rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped with LT315/70-series tires.

Power comes from a 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine that feeds on gasoline. The beefy mill is said to give the Ford F-150 Raptor a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The return of the Ford F-150 nameplate follows the introduction of the latest Mustang and the arrival of the Bronco nameplate here in the country.
