Kymco unleashes Skytown 150, Like S 150 to PH market

Kymco has unveiled its two latest offerings for the Philippine market: the new Skytown 150 and the Like S 150.

According to the Taiwanese motorcycle marque’s distributor locally, the newest motorcycles are designed for modern urban riders, yuppies and business owners aged early 20s to 40s.

New Kymco Skytown 150

Currently the newest badge in Kymco Philippines’ stable, the new Kymco Skytown 150 mixes “style, performance, and sustainability, making daily commuting more enjoyable and eco-friendlier.”

Dimension

The new Kymco Skytown 150 is 1,940 millimeters (mm) long; 750 mm wide; and 1,340 mm tall — with a 1,320-mm wheelbase and 770-mm seat height.

Its tank can hold seven liters of fuel and a 28-liter underseat storage space that can store a full-size helmet — with ample room for other belongings.

Design

Kymco’s newest automatic transmission motorcycle features an athletic look — sporting sharp lines for its fairings.

The motorcycle’s overall silhouette matches the profile of its head- and tail lamps that are all on LED — giving it a defined character even during nighttime.

Further, the new Kymco Skytown 150’s two-way saddle complements the wide passenger footrests that guarantee passenger comfort and safety.

Performance

Fitted under the new Kymco Skytown 150’s tank is a 150 cubic centimeter (cc) single overhead cam, four-stroke single-cylinder air-cooled engine that can dish out 11.2 horsepower (hp) and 11.9 Newton-meters of torque.

The said mill comes with Kymco’s Green Power system that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent and fuel consumption by up to 21 percent.

Guaranteeing the scooter’s stopping power are its disc brakes with anti-brake lock system (ABS) for both front and rear.

Meanwhile, its suspension system made up of telescopic fork at the front and double shock with swing arm for the rear assures ride stability. It is also outfitted with a perimeter frame (usually seen on backbone motorcycles) and an underslung engine hanger for additional rigidity and controllability.

Further, the new Kymco Skytown 150 sits on 14- and 13-inch alloys for the front and rear, respectively.

Proportions

Offered under the marque’s Lifestyle Series, the latest addition to the Kymco Like roster measures 1,915 mm long, 680 mm wide, and 1,145 mm tall with a 1,315-mm wheelbase and 770-mm seat height. It also has the capacity to carry seven liters of fuel in its tank.

Aesthetics

Unlike the Skytown 150, the Kymco Like S 150 wears curvy lines that complements its overall classic styling.

Offered in “The Dark Edition, the motorcycle is painted in either Glossy Metallic or Black, that highlights red portions such as the S badge, calipers, and crimson leather seat (with white stitching).

Also, the Kymco Like S 150 its new Trapezoid LED headlight harmonizes with the U-shaped taillamps.

Powertrain

Powering the Kymco Like 150 S is the 150cc, four-valve, single-cylinder gasoline mill that can give up to 13.2 hp and 12.5 Nm. Just like the Kymco Skytown 150, its disc brakes (with Bosch 10.3 ABS system) facilitates decelerations and halts.

Moreover, its suspension set-up (telescopic fork at the front and double shock with five-stage pre-load adjustment for the rear) absorbs ruts on the road.
