Suzuki Smash Fi 1

Suzuki Philippines Incoporated (SPH) is looking to achieve a monthly sale of around 60,000 to 70,000 units of the Suzuki Smash in 2024.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much power does the Suzuki Smash Fi make?

The Suzuki Smash Fi makes 9.2 horsepower with 9.10 Newton-meters of torque.
  • What is the price range of the new Suzuki Smash Fi?

The Suzuki Smash Fi is priced from P66,400 to P71,400.
  • The said number was quoted during the launch of the latest iteration of the Smash small displacement underbone motorcycle.

“In terms of the target monthly sales, so for next year — for the whole year — we are aiming to at least achieve around 60,000 to 70,000 units of combined carb and FI Smash units,” SPH Motorcycle Sales and Marketing Division Head Jose Salavarria told Carmudi Philippines.

On that note, SPH expects to make more deliveries of the Smash nameplate — especially in the metro — where fuel-injected motorcycles are more popular.

The new variant of the Suzuki Smash is equipped with a fuel-injected system that improves not only the motorcycle’s performance but also its fuel efficiency.

    Suzuki Smash Fi 2

The Suzuki Smash FI — the motorcycle company pointed out — clocks in at 68 kilometers per liter (kpl), based on World Motorcycle Test Cycle standards.

In comparison, the carburetor-equipped Suzuki Smash’s fuel economy ratings range from around 47kpl to 57kpl.

The said fuel-injected engine is mated to a four-speed constant mesh transmission and manages to churn out approximately 9.2 horsepower with 9.10 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

For comparison’s sake, its carb-fitted counterpart makes only 8.5 horses with 9.0Nm of pulling power.

The new Suzuki Smash FI also features a highly visible sporty meter panel that displays relevant riding data; brighter and wider headlamps for better visibility at night; a 7.6-liter underseat storage box that can store half-face helmets and other daily necessities; an environment-friendly and sporty muffler that is lightweight, minimizes exhaust emissions, reduces noise, and is Euro3 compliant; and more aerodynamic fairings.

It rides on 17-inch wheels, just like the original carburetor-type Suzuki Smash115.

Despite riding on similarly-sized wheels the fuel-injected variant is shorter, wider, and nimbler than its carburetor-outfitted brother. It has an overall length of 1,910 millimeters (mm), an overall width of 690mm, and an overall height of 1,085mm. It also has a shorter wheelbase at 1,220mm and clears the ground higher with 145mm of clearance.

And while we’re on the topic of sizes and dimensions, this is what the Suzuki Smash Fi looks like when a six-footer (our Managing Editor Ruben Manahan IV) sits atop its saddle.

    Suzuki Smash Fi 8

Suzuki Philippines is offering the Smash Fi in two trims: one fitted with spoke wheels and drum brakes and another with mag wheels and disc brakes. They are priced at P66,400 and P71,400, respectively.

“Its [Suzuki Smash> dominance in the underbone category has already sealed the Smash as the number one motorcycle for Filipinos. From the young to the expert, whether just a student already working, or starting a business, no matter where you are in the Philippines, the Suzuki Smash is everywhere and definitely a motorcycle for all,” stated Suzuki Philippines Incorporated President Koichiro Hirao.

The Suzuki boss also mentioned that the company has already sold 800,000 units of the motorcycle since it was introduced in the country.

“In fact, we already sold 800,000 units of Smash since its introduction in 2006,” noted Hirao.
